: "perfect" his translation is and how all the mistakes in
fan-translations
: have been "corrected". However, I have also heard of some IMO rather
: serious mistranslations and inappropriate wordings. Like the
translator
: for Mononoke Hime (sorry, I forget his name), I have a deep distrust
of
: anyone who says their translation is perfect. (I check other people's
: translations all the time as part of my job, and have yet to find one
: claiming perfection that was really any good.) Most experienced
: translators will tell you that a 100% perfect translation is
impossible.
: Even my script was billed as the "most accurate currently available",
and
: left open for suggestions.
:
: I have yet to see/confirm the Manga translations and hope the rumors I
have
: heard are false. Otherwise, I would have to disclaim any
responsibility
: and, in standing by my current version (which admittedly does need
minor
: tweaking in a couple of places -- nothing major though), wash my hands
of
: the project.
:
: Bochan_bird

The dub "translation" is as much re-write.
Compared to your script which I use with my Gainax discs :)

I believe Misato's speech to Shinji is the litmus test, is that true? It
is the most emotionally intense anime scene I know of, and what she says
needs to be as close to the original meaning as possible.
