It's not so much an "us" or "them" in regards to where it's released 
in what form, IMO. My suspicion is that Gainax simply can't leave 
well enough alone. Someone (here or on the AnimeOnDVD fora) mentioned 
a parallel with Lucas and his behavior with Star Wars.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to sit and watch... (Best Buy is 
good. And their back to school contest is silly as hell.)
