A few points.....

On where to buy D&R: I like BestBuy ($17.99). Reasonable price and they have 
this "Free shipping on Everything" deal going on.

On a revelation while on the BestBuy.com: the VHS tapes from Genesis 0:8 on 
have an NC-17 rating from the MPAA. I admit this caught me off-guard. I have 
no idea what it means.

On revisiting the DVD's last weekend: the anger has quietly morphed into 
annoyed acceptance at the Anglicized street signs/documents and such. i do 
enjoy the french dub as i think Asuka is very French/American. more than she 
is German/Japanese anyway. her turning around and announcing "enchante!" to 
the class makes me giggle every time for some reason. french dubbers did a 
very good job - i'd highly recommend it if you speak any french at all.

On the Manga D&R controversy: gainax's business methods puzzle me. they are 
very good at milking the merchandizing angle but their flubbing with editing 
of original material and not making the original available is confusing to 
me. maybe they are trying to create a whole line of collectors items or 
avoid saturating the market. i don't understand. as for me, i will wait for 
the boxed set. maybe they'll have changed their minds by then.
