[EVA] Rant Spoiler Ep 1-18

Warning Spoilers for episode 1-18
Sorry I'm new and I don't know the spoiler tags and I i'm to tired to look 
them up. I just wrote 5 notebook pages of my Evangelion Rantings. I've only 
seen episodes 1-18 but I already think its the greatest thing I've seen. It 
easily tops every anime, or movie I've seen, but It also tops every book I've 
read. Thats quite I feat for a cartoon. It has the greatest plot of anything 
I know, and I can't stop think about it. I had to write down my thoughts to 
get to sleep. I think it would be interesting for people to see my feeling 
and predictions before I finish the series. I know I'm really excited about 
looking back on this. Please don't spoil anything for me, so warn me if your 
going to respond to this with a spoiler. Also warning on the language I swear 
alot, but it's only because I feel so passionately about this. Here Goes:

       The first thing I should mention is that I've liked almost none of the 
characters when they are first introduced. The problem I think is that none 
of the them are cool or even funny (to start with, later they are hilarious). 
There is no reason to like them. Rei was the least hated but I pity her, 
again a minus to coolness factor.Gendo is the only person who seemed cool, 
although he treats his son like crap. Now of course even at episode 18 I'm 
sure I will learn to hate Gendo even more, so much for him being cool. Shinji 
was the first character I didn't like, he is a coward, he needs to take some 
resposibility. At least he pilots the damn thing after they try to put Rei in 
it. For a kid that is only 14 years old he has developed, like most of the 
characters in this story, major problems. Thats not surprising considering, 
but he doesn't have to act so funny, he could pretend to be normal, thats why 
I don't like him. He's to much of a pansy to do anything, and to unconcerned 
about himself and others to cover it up. Some action seen with the angel eh? 
Very cool. But what are Angels? Who knows? The first one blows up so NERV 
blows them up, but actually none of the Angels have attacked except in 
defense. Reminds me of Godzilla a little (lol). After this fight, I have come 
to like Misato a little more. She really does care for Shinji, just in her 
own way. She is almost like a mother, except she is always making fun of him. 
I figure Shinji needs and derserves it, but I also feel Shinji shouldn't take 
it. Misato is a drunken slob, Shinji! Don't take that crap from her, she's 
turned you into a slave! Rei is cold, makes me wonder what happened to her, 
makes me wonder about her family, its probably worse than Shinji's. She may 
be in fact  more messed up than Shinja if thats possible... I like the kid 
with the camera, absolutely priceless. Toji, take it easy. So Shinji hurt 
your little sister, he saved the whole city. You didn't need to beat him up, 
he has enough problems as it is. He deserved one punch for being stupid and 
saying he was the pilot (I understand he needs respect badly, but...). Rei 
should have been the one to hit him, although she doesn't get angry does she? 
Then again she doesn't want the attention, let is be diverted to Shinji she 
must be thinking that. I really got to wonder about her... she is easily the 
best looking girl in the school (IMO) and more than smart enough, but she is 
a loner. I doubt she is loner just because she wants to be alone. She might 
think that, but something fucked he life up bad. Asuka, oh what a bitch she 
acts like. Wait, I got a little ahead there. The fight where Rei holds a 
sheild in front of Shinji so he can fire the rifle is powerfull. Rei stops at 
nothing to complete her goal (such cold, iron hard determination). I think 
she is looking for death, an escape from life by just focusing on "the 
mission" regardless of personal intrest. I think in the first episode she was 
hurt so badly she should have been dead. Why? She cried out in pain gettion 
off the stretcher. I've haven't heard more than 5 words or sounds out of her 
since. She must have been in serious pain. In fact she probably would have 
died if it weren't for Shinji's father. That guy is a real hard-ass, he gets 
what he wants, he doesn't care about other people, not even his family, he 
doesn't even seem to care about himself. He also must be escaping the reality 
of something truly terrible (perhaps his wife? the second impact? His 
projects?). He only cares about his projects. He reminds me suprissingly of 
Rei, neither run away from the eva when it is punching the wall in front of 
them (like mirror images [some relation?]). He cares way to much for Rei. He 
should care less for Rei and more for his son. Shinji see Rei happily talking 
with his father, and it must hurt him. The kid can't even have a polite 
conversation with his father but Rei can Chat with him. I also think Rei may 
be the only person Shinji gives a damn about (it must make it all the more 
painful). And I have doubts about Shinji's father after episode 18... Did he 
save Rei because he cared about her? Maybe, but I think not. The bastard did 
it because he is using her. He only cares about his projects, and he treats 
Rei like she is his fucking project! I truely hate this man, he is pure evil. 
Damnit Rei why do you care so much about him, don't you see he isn't a father 
to you, he is only helping you because it serves his purpose! I didn't even 
think you wanted to live, maybe I'm wrong, maybe you secretly want a father, 
someone to care for you? I'm not making much sense anymore am I? Well get 
used to it I'm half-way through and this is why its called a rant. Rei she's 
Shinji's father in Shinji when he saves her. This is a good thing. Get with 
Shinji. You both have your problems. SHinji's a pansy, Rei doesn't need a 
father she needs a protector (fancy that, Rei "stone cold" Ayanami actually 
needs a protector... ) Well it's true, at least I think so anyway. She 
obviously cares about Shinji. She doesn't give a damn about what anyone 
thinks about her. If she did care about others she'd try to be more polite, 
or angry even. But when Shinji said he couldn't trust his father Rei slapped 
him ('bout time). Wake up Shinji, geez. Why would Rei get angry at someone 
unless she cared about them? Although I can understand her (and Shinji's) 
reluctance I think they just need to talk with each other. Geez Shinji, you 
really blew it by rumminging around in her room, and falling on her naked. If 
that wasn't enough you didn't notice your hand was on her breast. Shinji, you 
sure picked a great time to start daydreaming about her... Anyway I like Toji 
now. He appoligized to Shinji, and was there when he needed him. I thik 
Shinji needed to punch someone anyway (hey back to the one punch Shinji 
deserved right?), he was getting pretty angry at him self I think (another 
interesting translation of Ikari for that matter is anger or hate) Ok back to 
Asuka. She has her own problems, evidently they have to do with her mother. 
Poor Shinji he is now surrounded by 3 exceptionaly beautiful young woman he 
either ignore him or make fun of him. Asuka escapes her problems by getting 
angry. I just remebered something. The children all have a reason to fight (I 
know in one of the episodes they state there reasons, but I thought of this 
around episode 8). Asuka does it to prove herself, Rei does it to do it, and 
get it done right (god, I love this woman [child?, doesn't matter I'm only 
15]) and Shinji does it for the respect of his father. Why the hell does he 
want that? Asuka I think understands Shinji's father the best of all the 
children. I hate that man even more after what he did to Toji. (He has proved 
once again he cares more about his project than the children [especially his 
son] by making these dummy plugs.) I have no doubts anymore, Gendo cares 
about only one thing, his stinking projects. What is the deal with Shinji's 
mother anyway, that thing with the angel was wierd. I think maybe she was the 
only other thing Gendo may have cared about. Everyone is just jumping to 
escape from life aren't they? Misato joined NERV to kill angels because ADAM, 
the first angel killed her father... Lets fast forward a bit, i'm sleepy. 
Asuka and Rei's feelings for Shinji are now more apparent as are Shinji's 
feeling towards them (hot tub scene, you could argue he is just aroused, but 
thats half way there, right?[I can relate to the poor kid]) Shinji has saved 
both Rei and Asuka, I guess that does something for a woman :). Shinji has 
actually made Rei blush (the first time, I must say, was the most beautiful 
thing I've seen in my life...) and multiple times, would you beleive that? 
Asuka now worships Shinji, rather than trying to dominate him, because he got 
better scores on his test. I find it interesting both of the other childrens 
normal feelings are reversed in regard to Shinji... For the record, I now 
respect Shinji, and would like to mention, as I almost forgot, Asuka gives 
him a reason to fight with spirit. He want's to emulate her in a way courage 
and strength (notice when he smiles when Asuka is talking about getting he 
Revange after the fight with the angel teh splits, Ishmel, I think.. So the 
only other question I have left is why will Toji continue to pilot his eva? 
And what will his being being a pilot do to his relation to Shinji and the 
camera boy?

       Well there you have it, now I can some sleep. Those are my thoughts, I 
hope you saw a little into my mind as well, because what you read was 
basicaly a monolouge with myself. If your wondering the character I identify 
most with is Shinji (go figure, of all the charcters I choose the one I 
thought was the most pathetic, but the key reason for it is this, like me 
Shinji fights to protect his friends, evangelion made me realise this about 
myself. Shinji actually is the most courageous of teh bunch. Why? He cares 
about his life, and others, despite this he fights, he has things to be 
scared of. Both Rei and Asuka are ready to die (Asuka even says it)) ok i'm 
going to stop I could go on for hours liek this, and then who would read 
this?
