There's a huge number of people who really like EVA but don't like 
the ending. Is that so hard to understand? Isn't it true that, on 
average, fans tend to hate the endings of most animes, or at least 
be disappointed in them? :) 

I think the reason why the negative reaction is so strong becuase 
people *care* that much. I hear Star Wars Episode II sucks. I shrug.
I no longer have feelings for Star Wars. I was very vocal about 
Episode I sucking becuase, at the time, I really cared for the movies.
Now I've just divorced the trilogies in my mind. The first trilogy 
is Star Wars. The second trilogy is some cheap American-made knockoff 
that has nothing to do with the first one. ;)
