[EVA] the silliest question ^_^;;

I beg to differ.. I finally got myself a copy and beat it and found that it 
holds true continuity to the story. On the first disk about 8 or 9 minutes 
into the game, you (Shinji) are taking the train home from school after 
meeting Mana. Asuka, being jealous, starts to yell at you. Unfortunately, you 
have your SDAT player on and Asuka gets angry with this. She the proceeds to 
smash the thing to death.

Later in the game, she gives you a new player, the one we see Shinji use in 
the movies and in later episodes.

There are also minor instances that are refered to later events in the 
series, much like foreshadow. Also keep in mind the game was released on PC 
format during the first few months of the series run, so a lot of stuff in 
the show hadn't happened, and the game was mostly a tease for things yet to 
come.
