abandonware? jeez, jumping the gun are we? the copyright isn't going to run 
out for another 50 years or something. =P =)

besides, the money-making machine that is gainax is not going to let this 
sort of thing slide, do you think?

there are also versions for sega saturn and sony playstation, incidentally. 
i have the saturn version. i beat it, even. but i don't think i got the good 
ending. yawn. =)
