Incorrect -- at best it can only be considered semi-official fanfiction,
since Anno was NOT involved, and Evangelion is Anno's story.  It is just a
pleasant diversion made by Gainax to satisfy Eva fans who wanted a
shallower, more shoujo-stype Eva story.
The fact that it ties in with the storyline means nothing except that it
uses the same characters and setting (background), and the creators tried
to make it appear as "legitimate" as possible to give fans the impression
that they are playing a game in the atmosphere of the actual series.

It is NOT canon.
