I don't see why it matters whether or not Anno was involved. Yeah.. it was 
his story.. but it was GAiNAX who owned it and put it into an animation. Anno 
obviously gave them consent so therefore.. it was alright by him. I also 
don't see how it is shojo since in fact there are a lot of things that are 
similar in the series inside of the game (Shinji thinking and contemplating 
to himself etc.) So..
