[EVA] Various comments re EoE DVD

Personally, I've been pretty busy to be active on this
list  :)

Anyway, note that, IIRC, a boxset of the D&R DVD and
EoE is to be released in the US around December 2002. 
Also, I understand a boxset will be released in
Australia as well, though I'm not sure of the date.

I gather a number of people (myself included) are
waiting for the boxset release.  And I'll be getting
the Australian R4 PAL DVDs, due to the shortcomings
with the R1 DVD releases of both movies.

Personally, I've had the Japanese release since pretty
much the release date, so the quality of the R1 DVD
isn't that big a deal to me.  I'll still get an
English subtitled DVD, but that's more as an Eva fan
supporting the title and out of curiousity to see how
the commercial release is.

Also, after all these years when it was hard at the
beginning to get a copy of the fansub of the movies
etc, I find it a bit amazing that finally you can find
the DVD sitting on shop shelves.

This is just my own thought (though someone else may
have previously raised it here or on some other
forum), but it'd be interesting(?) if the changes to
the subtitled script arose because (i) Amanda Winn Lee
demanded creative control and (ii) Manga Entertainment
acceded to this demand to ensure that they could
retain the same English dub cast ADV used to (iii)
appease the fans who'd called on Manga Entertainment
to try to re-assemble that cast...

(ie it's all the dub-fans' fault  :P  ).

IIRC, isn't the "Love" in that telop written as "ai"
in katakana?  Does "ai" definitely mean "Love" or can
it have different meanings (including perhaps a sort
of cross-cultural pun with the word "I" in English)?
