If you have read the manga thus far, you *may* be aware that it
doesn't follow the plot of the tv series much closely. This is because
Sadamoto is writing his own version of the story. Also, while the suit
in the entry plug was an error (possibly due to the budget cuts) in
the tv series, and the patch they put by making Ritsuko say Shinji was
giving substance to his plug suit with his egoborder was just that - a
patch, it is obvious that Sadamoto didn't have any reason to make the
same mistake.
