Imprecise - Rei is composed (cleared out in EoE and the revised
episodes) of the soul of Lilith, a cloned Yui Ikari body, and her own
experiences and interactions with people.

Not to mention that Lilith is the source of life for humanity, just as
Adam is for Angels.

Bandage fetish reasons, and also making ends meet (Rei bandaget in the
beginning, Asuka bandaged in the end); but it is possible that the
perception of Asuka's world in the Eva was altered and, as such, the
scenes where we see her wounded indicate rather what she imagines is
happening than true reality (see the inside of her arm for further
hints).
