  I would have to agree with Tom as to the fact Kaji is not the "Black 
Knight" of NERV.  It is noble to search for the truth, even when there 
aren't high stakes or incredible lies through which this search must 
be conducted.  NERV is a wrapped in lies and secrets and is thus a 
very dangerous place to be if you seek the truth.  
  Is Kaji a good guy?  A white knight?  Not really.  But than again 
name one character in Evangelion who is completely good or completely 
evil.  Completely white or completely black.
  Evangelion shows that there are many shades of gray to it's 
characters and their motivations.  That's what is so great about it.
